On Wednesday we signed an agreement with Gardners Books, the largest distributor in the UK, to become a full consignment publisher, which means our books will always be in stock and available to UK shops on next-day delivery.
On Thursday Waterstones confirmed that Authors Reach books can now be ordered for collection in Waterstones' stores. We are now also in the process of submitting our books for putting on Waterstones' shelves.
That's not bad for a co-operative of 5 like-minded authors!
Check us out on our website www.authorsreach.co.uk
Have a great weekend.
Blog on, Dudes!
Great work Richard!
ReplyDeleteGreat work by all of us, Pengy!
DeleteI'm so impressed, Richard! This is the sort of thing people keep saying can't be done. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteThat's so true, Kathy. It's mainly said by publishers who want to keep their large slice of the action!
DeleteWe found everyone most helpful and friendly. Nielsens.Ingram Stark, Gardners and Waterstones all went the extra mile to help us understand what needed to be done and how. Meanwhile the independent book shops and their owners were great.
But now we just have to keep the wheel turning and make sure we have a regular output of quality titles.
At the moment Authors Reach just publishes and promotes the 5 of us (Sarah England, Shani Struthers, Gina Dickerson, Catriona King and myself), but who knows what the future may hold now that we know the impossible is VERY possible?
That's really good news! Shows what can be done when people put their minds to it. Well done all!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, Teresa. Many people in the industry were very helpful. Our publishers who let us buy the rights back to our books, Nielsens who talked us through book ISBN registration, Ingram Spark on how to get quality printing and initial distribution done, Gardners who helped us distribute to independent book shops and now treat us as they would any other publisher, and Waterstones who listened to Gardners and approved us for internal shop sale. Not least, of course, are the independent book shops that helped us launch our nbooks and Authors Reach itself!
DeleteGreat news, Richard. Well deserved for all you guys. Keep making the no-rules work for you.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, Roland. I always remember the Monty Python Australian university sketch, where the Dean is reading out the university rules. He gets to rule 5 and shouts out "There is no rule 5!"
DeleteGreat week indeed! Congrats for the good news :)
ReplyDeleteHi JGI. Many thanks for your comments and congratulations. It was a bit of a struggle and certainly a learning curve, but looking back, it was also great fun.
DeleteGreat week indeed! Congrats for the good news :)
ReplyDeleteThanks again, JGI!
